This week Nicaragua was put on the spotlight as Good Morning America – the most popular morning show in the US – featured the Masaya volcano as part of its Extraordinary Earth series for which they teamed up with National Geographic and focuses on 20 amazing places around the globe.

The segment – hosted by Will Reeve — featured a live look at the lava lake in Volcán Masaya and a brief interview with volcanologist Jeffrey B. Johnson who explained some of the science behind this unique Nicaraguan landmark and the technology used to analyze the activity of the volcano.

Later this week Nik Wallenda and American acrobat, aerialist and high wire artist attempted what is to date his most dangerous stunt – crossing the crater of the very same on a tightrope. The event was televised live on ABC.

Following the recent political crisis, it’s great to see the international media continue to feature the country in a positive light.
